I'm about to give you a quick tip for building your confidence, honoring your body and unconditionally loving your authentic self. Stay tuned. If you're ready to embrace a real. Let's get it. Let's go. Hello and welcome back to another bonus episode on the Embrace your old podcast. With the holiday season in full swing, there is one thing that seems to creep up on so many of us, and that is food jell o. I know a lot of us might be a have have experienced it or are experiencing it. Maybe you feel bad for eating, you know, a little bit more than usual or indulging in your favorite holiday treats or skipping our usual routine. I get it. There is so much noise out there about staying on track during the holidays and it can make you feel like you're failing even when you're just living and enjoying life. And so that's why in today's episode, I want to tackle food guilt in a way that you might not have heard before. Like, these are not the same old Give yourself Grace reminders, though. We'll touch on that as well. I'm sharing with you kind of some unconventional tips that I think will help you reframe you and reframe your mindset as to how to approach food this season and really leave you feeling empowered, not guilty. But before we dive in, I want to share this review that comes from Speak and Act in Faith. She gave a five star view and said, Uplifting. I've recently come across your podcast and I have seen a complete mindset shift. I love your upbeat personality that makes me also want to be positive and talk positively about my body. I have also shared this podcast with a dear friend and she's told me that she's loving it as well. Thank you for giving me a mindset change. Thank you for giving me the motivation to honor my body that God gave me. I love this so much. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to leave a rating interview. And also thank you so much for taking time to even send this to your friend. That's exactly what I would love to you guys to do. Like if you have a friend or a coworker, sister, someone in your life that you feel like would benefit from this podcast or specific episode in general, I just ask that you share it out with that and you can copy the link and send it to them in text message. You can also screenshot the symposium on your story with your community. All right, let's dive into today's bonus episode number one. You have to remember that food is connection and celebration, not just for fuel. Like I know that we hear all the time that food is fuel. But there is there is something so much more. And food is actually more than that. Like it's a part of how we connect with others. It's a part of how we celebrate special moments and honored traditions and these holiday meals, these baked goods, these family recipes, they hold memories and meanings that go beyond the calories and the macros that they contain. And so instead of focusing on what's in the food, really focus on what the food represents. Like maybe it's your grandma's pie that she only makes once a year, or the cookie recipe that you've been baking with your mom since you've been a kid. Like these moments matter, and allowing yourself to enjoy them is a way of honoring your life, honoring your relationships, honoring your culture and food. Guilt really does have no place in these moments of connection. Number two, your body is designed to handle fluctuations. Here's the truth that I truly, genuinely believe that this isn't talked about enough. But your body, our bodies, like, my goodness, they are so resilient. I have seen my body in such a different light this year just having my first baby. But it is designed to handle fluctuations in what you eat, how much you eat, how much you move one day or even a week of eating differently than usual is not going to undo all the progress that you've made. Your body knows how to adapt and find balance again. Like think about your metabolism as a thermostat. It adjusts to the changes that you throw at it. A few holiday indulgences won't break anything. They're simply part of a bigger picture. So I want you to trust your body to do what it's meant to do and focus on supporting it instead of punishing it. Fluctuations again, are normal. They're a part of the process. I want you to embrace them and trust that your body will naturally return to what it was when you returned to your normal habits. Number three, guilt creates this cycle, so you have to break it by practicing neutrality. So when you feel guilty about what you eat, of what you eaten or what you are going to eat or whatever it is, the lack of movement that you have or haven't had, This oftentimes leads to this cycle of restricting to overindulging, to feeling guilty all over again. Like one way to break this cycle is by practicing food neutrality. So basically this just means that you are seeing food as neither good nor bad. It's just food. Like try labeling your holiday treats as what they are instead of saying, you know, I shouldn't eat this pie, say this pie is a part of my holiday celebration and I'm going to enjoy the heck out of it. Taking away the moral weight from food. This can help you stop the guilt spiral before it even starts. Like food is food, especially when counting your macros. It doesn't matter if it's 30g of carbs from oatmeal or 30g of carbs from cookies. At the end of the day, it's 30g of carbs. And that's what your body needs, right? 30g of carbs, whether it's coming from oatmeal or cookies, is the same. A carb is a carb, a calories, a calorie. Let them be exactly what they. Ah, one thing that helps with that is to just understand the foundation of macro accounting. And that's really it is the foundation of macro accounting. So if you are struggling with food guilt, I genuinely believe that when you learn just the principles of macro accounting, you will start to see food in a different light. You're not seeing it as good or bad, you're just seeing it as food. And if you want to start counting your macros right now, like right the second you can absolutely do that and still enjoy your holiday to the fullest. So whether you count your macros or not, at the end of the day, I just want to encourage you to just look at food as neutral. Not good, not bad. And that's going to help you so incredibly much during this holiday season. If you do want to learn more about macros and you're like, I do want to have that foundation of just knowing what food is like, what carbs are, what protein is, what fats are and what my body needs to be optimal. I do have a program. It's called the Macro Economy. It's simple on that academy, all you have to do is go to macro accounting, mean simple.com or just click the link in my shownotes to gain access to the online academy. But that will give you a step by step guide. And I really think that that will be beneficial. But again, whether you decide to count macros or not, I just want you to look at food as neutral and just know that there are so many amazing memories waiting to be had other than you stressing about food. So if you feel guilty about your food choices, please just remember these three things that I mentioned today. Number one, food is connection and celebration, not just fuel. Number two, your body is designed to handle fluctuations. And number three, guilt creates a cycle. So you have to break it by practicing neutrality. If you love this episode, I know you'll also love Episode 495 The Ultimate Guide to Heading your Macros at Holiday Parties. So I will go ahead and link that in the show notes so that you can easily go tune into that. But I hope that this just gave you some little pep talk. Just a reminder, Hey, you're doing great. I want to encourage you to continue to look at food in a new light during this holiday season. I love you so much. I mean, I'll talk to you in the next one. [00:07:28]
